About SMDR+
who, why, where...
SMDR+ was created by Steven Baxter as a 'pet project' for the secondary school he works for. Being a school, funding was not available for call logging software off the shelf due to it's high price, thus Steven set about creating some from scratch.
SMDR+ was born in November 2007 and relied on small text files for data collection. Quickly this was found to be an inefficient way of doing things and so MySQL support was introduced.
In August 2008 SMDR+ was introduced to the outside world via a post on a widely-used technical support forum. This seemed to generate a huge amount of interest, much more than Steven was expecting!
2010 saw a larger burst of interest with the release of V1.8. This release included a whole host of features requested by users as well as expanding the report sets.
SMDR+ has only been tested against the Mitel Networks 3300MX ICP which Steven's employer currently owns. It is hoped with support from users more telephone systems can become supported.
SMDR+ is currently free to download and use, all Steven asks is that you request a license key by providing a few details so he can keep track of where the software is being used.
If you are interested in helping Steven to develop SMDR+, you can either donate money towards the project via the website or offer your assistance with testing via the forums.
